uneekGrafix is Making Some Moves

Just wanted to keep you guys up to date.  As of right now I still plan on releasing my new re brand come the first of the year.  Its been a long and involved process for me, something that I have been wanting to do but never really had the time.  Not like I have tons of time now but you know what I’m saying.  Right?

Anyways I plan on releasing my new “uneekGrafix” in the next few weeks.  Most likely it going to be the mid January but you can keep your fingers crossed for Jan. 1, 2010.  I am redoing my whole business plan, which includes a whole new face lift, from soup to nuts.  Same name, new look.  So keep an eye out for the update……until then.

A Viable Career as a Freelance Logo Designer?

On my daily scour over the intrawebs I came across this post by Graham Smith from imjustcreative (which is an awesome design resource so bookmark it).  He is talking about making a viable career as a freelance designer. Its a very good question.  Can you make it?  Will you thrive or just survive?  Graham touches on some really great points about how one markets themselves, how you go about reaching new clients and how you can narrow your searches down into niche markets.  I for one like photography and like music, so I have geared my photo work toward the music industry to help attract this type of crowd and spread the word about my services.  Just check out my photo blog, in the past few months I have been getting more and more work just from niche marketing myself.

Anyways here are some great point from the Grahams post:

It does take determination and patience

Way before I even considered taking on work, I was tapping into social media to start getting the IJC name out there. My web site has seen multiple revisions, shifting from one genre to the next, before finally finding its footing, as you see it now. It is a regularly updated design and typography blog, not to mention my portfolio.

This is my agency, my store front. The home page is my front door that’s always open.

Green Over Grey Goes Live

Green Over Grey Web Site

I just received word from my former clients Mike and Patrick, owners of Green Over Grey that they just launched their brand new, super sleek web site.  What is Green Over Grey all about you ask?

“Green Over Grey is a boutique design firm located in Vancouver, Canada. We design and install living walls also known as green walls or vertical gardens. Our unique system makes it possible to transform any vertical surface into a lush and strikingly beautiful garden, either inside or out.”

Not only was it a pleasure to work with the guys on their brand development but now to finally get a chance to see the whole package together online is a great feeling of satisfaction.  So I encourage you guys to hop over to their site and take a look around.  Its packed with great “green” information and awesome chic photos of their installations.  And don’t forget if you interested in learning more about their products or would like to set up a free consultation click here.  Hey you never know you might just want to “spruce” things up a bit!

Looking for more of the Green Over Grey Logo?  This brand has been featured on Logo Gala and Creattica.

PushIt2Me – iphone App

PushIt2Me PhoneLayout PushIt2Me iphone App

One of my latest projects involved the most inventive techie nerd gadgets of this century. Yes, mac fan boys, I’m talking about the iPhone. Insert comical applause here.

But on the real I had the opportunity to work with Don Drake of Drake Consulting on the UI (user interface) design and development of a new iPhone app called PushIt2Me. The app (soon to be release on the app store) is a push mail application that takes incoming mail and displays it on your phone just like a text message. No matter how your phone is set up or whatever application is running (or not running), you will automatically get a notification informing you that mail has arrived.  According to the site , which has a better explanation says–

PushIt2Me is a soon to be released iPhone application that will allow end-users to receive emails on their iPhone just like they receive text messages: A notification will appear on the screen while running any iPhone app or while the phone is even sleeping.

Working together with Don to develop this application was not only an awesome design project but it was also a great learning experience as well.  This was the first time that I have ever had the chance to work on a UI design for the iPhone and I am extremely happy with the end results.  We are currently in the last few stages of beta testing and will be submitting it to the app store shortly.  So with any luck the app will be live and ready for purchase in a few weeks. You’ll be able to give it a test run for yourself and see what you think.

If you would like more info and PushIt2Me or Drake Consulting feel free to check out the site for all the up to date information. Also don’t forget to check out the PushIt2Me design images on uneekGrafix.

UPDATE
PushIt2Me is now available for purchase from the iTunes App Store!!
